Walks Greenspaces and Countryside

Boardwalk through Bogwood (Llandeilo) - The walk begins at an access point adjacent to disabled car parking spaces 500-1000 metres from the reception centre.

Disabled Access/ Least Restrictive Routes - ACE note - this has some suggested walks though a little light on detail.

In and around Carmarthenshire with a wheelchair - details of places to visit in the area

Ffynnon Llawddog Picnic Area ( Cenarth) - Very attractive riverside location on the River Teifi just downstream of Cenarth Falls/Bridge. St. Llawddog's Well on site together with disabled fishing platform.

Henllys Vale (Ystradowen) - The footpath has recently been improved to allow easier access however halfway along the route is a short and moderately steep natural incline.

National Wool Museum (Newcastle Emlyn) - Two wheelchairs are available on request in the shop. The chairs are allocated on a first come first served basis and cannot be pre-booked, although any advanced requests will be considered. There is a lift to the first floor in the main building.

Penybedd Forest Walk - Penybedd Forest Walk can be started from Penybedd Picnic Site in Penybedd which is part of Pembrey Forest. - 1 mile

Swiss Valley walk 1 (Llanelli) - The reservoir has a surfaced tarmac cycle track / path suitable for wheelchairs

Country Parks

Gelli Aur Country Park - There is level access to a Visitor Information Centre/Tearoom here and a viewing platform overlooking the beautiful Twyi Valley.

Llyn Llech Owain Country Park - Many paths are well surfaced and accessible to wheelchair users, and a specially constructed path allows safe access over the peat bog and around the lake.

Pembrey Country Park (Llanelli) - Eight miles of golden sands at Cefn Sidan The longest toboggan run in Wales 130 metre long Dry Ski Slope Manicured parkland for frisbee, cricket, and football Large adventure playground Picnics & designated BBQ sites 8 Wildlife trails with set routes plus beach walks Natural parkland - disabled toilets, parking (charges) _ Tramper available download map here - also see this site

Nature Reserves

WWT National Wetland Centre Wales (Llanelli) - (Charges) - The centre has level access and hard-surfaced paths with tarmac on main routes (and compacted gravel on minor paths). Low-level viewing windows in some of the hides. Accessible toilet in the visitor centre.

Waun Las National Nature Reserve - (Charges) This NNR is one of the most recently designated in Wales, and the entrance lies within the National Botanic Garden of Wales.There are accessible toilets and shops within the Garden complex. also see this site and this one

Carmarthenshire Disability Sport - Within Carmarthenshire there are currently existing clubs and provisions offering a variety of sporting activities for people with disabilities, ranging from athletics, squash, karate to tennis.

Carmarthenshire Family Link - provide a short break service for disabled children and children with learning difficulties and their families.

HAIPAC - exists primarily to minimise pressure on parents and carers of individuals who have addititional needs and the professionals who support them - run by parents/carers of children with additional needs for parents/carers of children with additional needs

Llanelli Disabled Drivers Association - Membership is open to all drivers and non-drivers who have a mobility problem through disablement or illness.

Newcastle Emlyn Swimming Pool - As of Jan 2015 disabled friendly, temperature is set at 29 degrees with a pool hoist and a disabled changing room - swimming teachers are in the pool with the children until Wave 4
